Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6969, #7040, and another "Geep" whose road number is not recorded. #6969 is an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during December of 1926 and retired in June of 1959. #7040 is an EFS-17M built by GM-EMD in November of 1955 and rated at 1,750 horsepower.

Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #7102, #7041, and three more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are EFS-17M's built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7102 was constructed in November of 1956, while #7041 was built in December of 1955. In this context, they've just passed AR Tower and are about to enter the single-tracked New Portage Tunnel on their way down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East. Description:  Derailment. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 21 May 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #7057, #7197-B, #7042, and #2261. All were built by EMD. #7057, #7197-B and #7042 are EFS-17M's and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7057 was built in 1956, #7197-B was built in 1957, while #7042 was built in 1955. #2261 is an EF-25 built in 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They have just come down the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve with a 57-car TrucTrain and are passing the derailment site with caution. The caboose is #477954. Visible in the background (L to R) are the PRR Test Plant Building and the 17th Street Bridge. (#11 of 14)

All were built by EMD. #2230, #2208, and #2219 are EF-22's built in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #7044 is an EFS-17M built in 1955 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. They are passing under the 17th Street Bridge with a 48-car merchandise freight on their way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. The caboose is number #477714.
